Best Books That Will Teach You To Crochet
Hi, everyone! I’m so excited to share with you all the Best 12 Books That Will Help You Learn How To Crochet.
This is a must-read post if you are someone who is starting out with crochet and wants to collect a library of crochet books.
Since everyone starts crochet a little differently in terms of motivation and focus, it only makes sense to have a wide variety of books to accommodate that!
One of the most popular starting points is amigurumi.
For those, take a look at the two dedicated amirugumi books I have.
One book is great for “Functional amigurumi projects add the adorableness of amigurumi animals to loveys and blankets to create self-soothing comfort objects that little kids love.
Includes a stitch glossary with step-by-step tutorials that teach the basics of crochet and amigurumi with videos and photos so anyone, of any level, from beginner to advanced, can create a beautiful blanket to gift or decorate their homes.”.
The other book, is loaded with expertise, too, reading: “Designer Mariska Vos-Bolman (DIY Fluffies) has compiled a wealth of amigurumi knowledge and expertise in this book. Even if you’re a crochet newbie, you’ll be able to tackle all of these projects with ease.”
If you’re more into reading classic books with an introduction to stitches, tension, etc, there’s a book for that too. It says: “Get your crochet off to a flying start with 8 simple projects and multiple techniques.
In this complete course, crochet expert Claire Montgomerie covers everything you need to get started: essential tools and materials, how to hold your hook, make your first stitches, fasten off and read a pattern.
Clear step-by-step photographs and a handy fold-out flap with crochet abbreviations make it accessible for all, whether you are hooking your first stitch or revisiting the basics.”.
Two other books take similar approaches to this, which is great for young learners or total newbies.
One states: “This ultimate beginner’s guide to crochet will cover the many topics, with many photo tutorials along the way: learn the basics, work a swatch, crochet tips, find crochet inspiration, decide on your first pattern.”.
The other explains: “Perfect for complete beginners, Claire clearly explains everything you need to know about crochet: how to read a ball band, how to get tension correct, how to choose hooks and yarns and how to read abbreviations and crochet patterns.”.
For those who are interested in learning about specific kinds of projects, there are beginner crochet books here for those too!
For example, a granny square book.
This is: “The ‘Ultimate Granny Square Sourcebook’ is a comprehensive and indispensable magazine for crochet enthusiasts, offering a wealth of patterns, techniques, and creative inspiration centered around the timeless and versatile granny square.”.
If you want even more of those squares, there is another book.
In it, “his unique granny square collection combines the styles of 23 creative designers from all over the world, who each bring their best game to the table.
With ample suggestions for captivating combinations, written instructions as well as clear graphs for every square in the book, stitch instructions and techniques for blocking and joining, this sourcebook goes above and beyond to show you the endless possibilities of granny square crochet.”.
If you want to learn how to crochet textured patterns specifically, there is a great book here.
This will help you “Learn how to create tactile textured crochet for making wonderful items for the home and wardrobe with this collection of 40 versatile stitches! Modern Guide to Textured Crochet is perfect for the experienced beginner or intermediate level crocheters with some extra ideas aimed at more advanced makers.”.
One of my favourites on this list is a book all about writing crochet patterns.
Here’s what is about: “My Ultimate Guide to Crochet Pattern Writing (+ Workbook) will take you step by step from dreaming up your pattern, writing it, taking photos, marketing it on social media, and more!”
As you can see, there are so many ways that you can learn how to crochet.
Best of all, these are physical books or digital books, and some are offered in both forms.
So, choosing the right book in your preferred format is simple, too.
